The TEC Award-nominated DUO 8 system is a true main monitor in the size of a midfield, and offers an attractive alternative to our other MF, or MidFocus series monitors. Augspurger’s® MF Range is designed to fit in smaller control rooms where a traditional soffited mains system would not be possible, and where the distance between the mixer and the mains is tighter.
In the case of the Duo 8, size matters in that our custom 8” mid/mass driver units are extremely fast in response making the music come alive in a special way. Their D’Appolito alignment in the cabinet also enhance on-and-off axis performance putting more of the direct energy into the listening area and away from secondary reflective zones.
As part of this system’s development, we designed the 30% smaller MF horn, still using the famous solid maple of the original horn, but allowing the full frequency spectrum coming from the speaker’s front baffle to coalesce in a shorter distance whilst providing the same 70 x 110 degree dispersion, making the Duo 8 an ideal mid-field monitor.
The Duo 8 is both visceral and revealing, especially when combined with a single or dual 12” LF extension system, or even a single 18” pair of cabinets, where the system output and sonic detail simply astounds. The Duo 8 ‘MiniMain’ may be configured for either free-standing use or flush-mounted into a carefully designed and built front wall.
Each Augspurger® system is expertly hand built and tested in Hanover, MA USA.
